  1. About These Terms

These terms govern your use of the North Coast BJJ website at www.northcoastbjj.co.uk. By accessing or using this site, you agree to be bound by these terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the site.

North Coast BJJ is operated by Daniel Havelock. For questions about these terms, contact us at Havelock8677@hotmail.co.uk.

  1. Use of This Website

This website is provided for informational purposes — to learn about our club, classes, and how to get started with Brazilian Jiu Jitsu.

You agree not to:

  • Use the site for any unlawful purpose

  • Attempt to gain unauthorised access to the site or its systems

  • Copy, reproduce, or redistribute site content without permission

  • Use the site in any way that could damage, disable, or impair it

We reserve the right to restrict or remove access to the site at any time without notice.

  1. Third Party Services

Our website directs visitors to the MAAT app for class bookings, free trials, and membership management. When you use MAAT, you are subject to their own terms of service and privacy policy. We recommend reviewing those before signing up.

We are not responsible for the availability, accuracy, or content of any third-party service, including MAAT.

Our site also contains links to other external websites, including Checkmat and Progress JJ. We are not responsible for the content or practices of these sites.

  1. Training Disclaimer

Brazilian Jiu Jitsu is a contact sport that carries an inherent risk of physical injury. By attending any North Coast BJJ class or session, you acknowledge and accept the following:

  • Physical risk — BJJ involves close physical contact, throws, joint locks, and other techniques that can result in injury, including but not limited to bruises, sprains, fractures, and soft tissue damage. Injury can occur even when training safely and under supervision.

  • Fitness to train — You are responsible for ensuring that you are physically fit to participate. If you have any pre-existing medical conditions, injuries, or health concerns, you must disclose these to a coach before training.

  • Medical advice — Nothing on this website or in our classes constitutes medical advice. If you are unsure whether BJJ is appropriate for you, consult your GP or a medical professional before attending.

  • Children and young people — Parents or guardians are responsible for assessing the suitability of training for any person under 18 in their care.

  • Assumption of risk — By choosing to train with us, you voluntarily assume the risk of injury. While our coaches take reasonable steps to maintain a safe training environment, we cannot eliminate all risk.

This section does not replace any waiver or agreement you may be asked to sign through MAAT or at the gym. Separate terms may apply when booking classes or registering for membership.

  1. Intellectual Property

All content on this website — including text, images, logos, graphics, and design — is owned by or licensed to North Coast BJJ unless otherwise stated. You may not reproduce, distribute, or use any content from this site without written permission.

The North Coast BJJ name and logo are the property of North Coast BJJ. Third-party trademarks referenced on the site (such as Checkmat and Progress JJ) belong to their respective owners.

  1. Limitation of Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law:

  • This website is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied

  • We do not guarantee that the site will be available, error-free, or free from harmful components

  • We are not liable for any loss or damage arising from your use of this website, including but not limited to indirect or consequential loss

Nothing in these terms excludes or limits liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, fraud, or any other liability that cannot be excluded under the laws of Scotland and the United Kingdom.

  1. Governing Law

These terms are governed by the laws of Scotland and the United Kingdom. Any disputes arising from these terms or your use of the site will be subject to the jurisdiction of the Scottish courts.

  1. Changes to These Terms

We may update these terms from time to time. Any changes will be posted on this page with an updated revision date. Continued use of the site after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the updated terms.
